OList Events

OList sponsors and promotes events of particular interest to Objectivists and fans of Ayn Rand. Some of these events are primarily intellectual, while others are mostly social. Some are in person, and others are online. Some are only for OList subscribers, and others welcome a wider audience.

You can subscribe to this calendar of events using XML or iCal formats. (Right click to copy the link URL, then copy that into your calendar program.) If you subscribe, you should see the events in their proper time zone, based on your own calendar settings. Here, all events are shown in Mountain Time.

OList Virtual Socials

The OList Virtual Socials are two weekly online chats exclusively for OList subscribers. People simply gather in the OList Chat at the appointed hour to discuss topics of interest. They're are a great way to connect with other OList'ers.

• Tuesday's Happy Hour starts at 6 pm PT / 7 pm MT / 8 pm CT / 9 pm ET. It features Appetizers and Drink Specials (i.e. the weekly conversation topics), usually announced on Earl Parson's blog, Creatures of Prometheus, on Monday.
• Sunday's Brunch starts at 9 am PT / 10 am MT / 11 am CT / 12 pm ET, immediately after Diana Hsieh's Rationally Selfish Webcast. It doesn't have any set topic.

Officially, these socials run for an hour, but often people stick around to chat for longer. Other chats are periodically scheduled by the managers of the OList e-mail lists. They can be found on the calendar of events.

To join the fun, you must have the URL, login, and password for the OList Chat that is sent on the first of the month to all the OLists.

OList Movie Night

OList Movie Nights are online gatherings for OList subscribers to watch a movie and chat. The movie chosen is watched simultaneously via NetFlix Streaming, while viewers comment on the movie periodically in the chat.

OList Movie Nights happen on the first, third, and fifth Saturday evenings of each month, starting exactly at 6 pm PT / 7 pm MT / 8 pm CT / 9 pm ET. Please show up 15 minutes early to queue up the chosen movie. Movies are chosen via submissions and votes on Google Moderator.

OList Webcasts

OList hosts periodic webcasts with Objectivist intellectuals. These webcasts are funded by pledges from interested people made in advance. Those people pledge to pay whatever the webcast is worth to them. If sufficient funds are pledged, the webcast happens and the pledges are due. Otherwise, the pledges are void.

Pledgers can submit questions for discussion before the webcast, attend the live webcast, and participate in its text-based chat. They have access to the video stream (and, in most cases, an audio download) for two months thereafter. After the webcast happens, anyone can purchase access to it.
