OList List Mechanics

You can see all the OList e-mail lists to which you are subscribed at groups.google.com, provided that you are logged in and subscribed via your Google Account.

How to Subscribe to an OList List

Go to the web page of the list, review the subscription requirements, then click on the link to request a subscription. (You may need to sign in to your Google Account. If you do not have a Google Account, see the instructions for creating one below.) Click on "join this group."

Choose how you wish to receive list e-mail and type in your real name. If you have multiple e-mail addresses associated with your Google Account, you can select which e-mail address to use for the OList. Explain how you meet the subscription requirements in a few sentences. Then submit the form.

Your subscription will need to be approved by the manager of that OList. Once that happens, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your subscription, and including a link to the web archive of the Google Group.

How to Create a Google Account

Go to Google's New Account Form. Follow the instructions to create an account. If you like, you can associate a non-Gmail e-mail address with your Google Account, then use that address to subscribe to any OList.

Once you've created an account, follow the instructions above to subscribe to the OLists of your choice.

How to Send E-mail to a OList List

After you are subscribed to an OList, you can send e-mail to it using either of the two addresses listed on the list's page: @olist.com or @googlegroups.com. You must send e-mail from the address that is subscribed to the list.

In replying to messages from OLists, "reply all" will send your reply to the whole group, whereas just "reply" will send it privately to the person to whom you are replying. Please do not send e-mails of interest to just one or two people to the whole list.

How to Unsubscribe from a OList List

Click on the "Edit Membership" link at the bottom of every message to the list. (You may need to sign in to your Google Account.) Click on the "unsubscribe" button.
